Hey there teen-to-early-twenties Christian girl. (It’s so annoying that we can’t be in the same room so I can actually see you.) This is my blog—my first blog post, in fact. I’m not going to try to hype it up or make it sound cooler than it is. I just want to get to know you and for you to have a chance to get to know me. That way you might invite me to your birthday party, which would be my highest honor, because I really like cake. And pop rocks, oh and roller-skating and…squirrel! (If you have not seen the movie UP you are wondering why I put squirrel in a list of reasons I like birthday parties. This girl is weird, Marge.)
So, just to introduce myself: Hello, (awkward handshake or curtsy) I’m Amie. I’m an adult, according to the number of years I have lived. I drive a Toyota Corolla and drink a green smoothie nearly at least once a day. I like retro everything and want to learn to play the ukulele in the next 6 months. Right now, I’m stressed because I only have 3 pairs of pants that fit. I like hippie-smelling perfume and I’m totally, happily, single. I am not anti-marriage, but it sure seems like a lot of work. Maybe one day. (Note: this is not a veiled invitation to get you to introduce me to anyone. Don’t you dare!)
I have the best family ever! My Mom and Dad live ten minutes down the road, my brother and his wife are close by and we hang pretty regularly. I love Jesus and find his life inspires and challenges me to a life of more service. I am a Christian because of Bible prophecy, history, and I’ve studied the major worldviews and benevolent theism answers most of my big questions! That’s a long story though, we can talk theology later. We’ve got some biz-nas to attend to! (Yeah, say “biz-nas”. It’s fun.)
Besides being pumped about food, if you’ve read any of my other webby materials, you’ve prolly realized I am super stoked by the opportunity to challenge young women to live their best possible lives for Christ. I’m hoping to make this blog a part of that mission, using it to highlight different ideas, resources and just cool stuff that I think will benefit you. I’ll be choosing topics based on real life conversations with girls I meet, things I’m learning in life and the Bible, stories from my travels, books I’m reading and people I interview. So, this blog is for you—I won’t share it if I don’t think it will someway make your day better, even if it’s just to make you laugh. Don’t hold back comments, constructive criticism, and questions are all super welcome here. If you have an idea for a blog post it up!
Next week we’ll kick off a series on how to spend your summer! Woot woot!
Here’s a recent photo taken of my most recent trip to Australia with my adopted brother Jono Nilon. We did some evangelism work together and had a blast talking with people about faith.
